PROFILE

Alghiffari Aqsa is a distinguished legal professional with comprehensive expertise in private, criminal, and administrative law. He served as the Director of Jakarta Legal Aid (LBH Jakarta) from 2015 to 2018, where he managed complex legal cases and made significant contributions to the advancement of public interest law.

During his tenure at LBH Jakarta, he led the Southeast Asian Public Interest Lawyers (SEAPIL) network, which unites over 80 legal practitioners across Southeast Asia. He also held a position as a board member of the Southeast Asian Legal Aid Network (SEALAW).

He earned his Sarjana Hukum (S.H.) degree from the Faculty of Law, Universitas Indonesia and holds a Master of Laws (LL.M.) from the University of Sydney, which he pursued as an Australian Awards Scholarship recipient. He also completed a fellowship program at Columbia Law School and was awarded a fellowship by the Global Network for Public Interest Law (PILNet) in New York in 2012. In 2016, after finishing the Readers Course in Victoria, Australia, he was appointed Overseas Counsel by the Victorian Bar Association and served as a fellow at the International Commission of Jurists (ICJ) in Australia.

His notable contributions to Indonesia’s legal sector have been recognized by Hukumonline, the country’s largest legal media platform, which featured him as a “Seleb Jurist” alongside other prominent legal figures.
