Handa S. Abidin, S.H., LL.M., Ph.D.
PROFILE
Handa currently serves as the Rector of President University. He previously served as Vice Rector for Academics and was a faculty member at President University. He has been appointed by Asian Legal Business (Thomson Reuters) as a judge for the prestigious ALB SE Asia Law Awards (2018–2023) and the ALB Indonesia Law Awards (2015, 2017–2022). Additionally, he is a member of the Ethics Committee of the Indonesia Fintech Lending Association (AFPI).
Handa earned his law degree from Universitas Indonesia (S.H.), a Master of Laws (LL.M.) from George Washington University Law School, and a Ph.D. from the University of Edinburgh Law School. His expertise spans environmental law, climate change law, human rights, the Indonesian legal system, and public international law.
His monograph, The Protection of Indigenous Peoples and the Reduction of Forest Carbon Emissions: The REDD-Plus Regime and International Law, is held in the collections of Harvard Law School Library, Yale’s Lillian Goldman Law Library, and Stanford’s Robert Crown Law Library.
